POLE FITNESS & POLE DANCING: FOUNDATION COURSES

Our foundation pole dancing/pole fitness courses really are for complete beginners - you don’t need to have any experience to take part. All of our foundation courses run over five weeks and each class lasts for 55 minutes. New Courses start every 6 weeks. Upcoming course start dates are as follows:

Once you have learned basic spins, climbing and head stands you will be introduced to more difficult moves in one of our beginners / improvers classes. Pole  classes typically start with warm-ups where you should expect to do some running, lunges, twisting, and stretching. You'll also perform strengthening exercises like side crunches, pull-ups, and leg raises. Not everyone will be at the same fitness level, so make sure you take these exercises at your own pace.

OPEN LEVEL POLE: MIXED ABILITY CLASSES

Open level classes are for people who already have some pole dancing experience. All levels are welcome, whether you’re on a foundation course and fancy a bit of extra practice or someone who’s more advanced and want to keep progressing. They’re perfect as refreshers of what you already know and a great place to pick up some extra tricks too.

Beginners/ Improvers level classes are for people who completed our foundation course and already have none or little pole dancing experience. Whether you’re on a beginner course and fancy a bit of extra practice or want to keep progressing these classes are perfect as refreshers of what you already know and a great place to pick up some extra tricks too.

Once you have learned spins and how to invert you will be introduced to more difficult moves in one of our intermediate classes.

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED POLE: HIGHER LEVEL MIXED ABILITY CLASSES

Our intermediate/ Advanced pole classes are for more experienced Polers. Learn new tricks and combos, whilst challenging yourself to be pushed to be a better pole dancer.

SPINNING POLEMIXED ABILITY CLASSES ( BEGINNERS/INTERMEDIATE)

If you’re new to pole dancing, or you’ve recently started to learn, then you’ll probably have noticed that there are static dance poles, which are fixed and don’t spin - then there are spinning poles, which spin by themselves! In this class everything is about Spinning Pole. You will learn to control your momentum and perform slow, controlled spins or fast tricks and transitions. You need to be comfortable with inverts and basic inverted moves for these classes.

POLE COMBOS INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED: HIGHER LEVEL MIXED ABILITY CLASSES

Learn how to piece together spins and climbs in our combos and transitions class. Pole Combos and transitions will help you become more fluid in your movement, whether you're an experienced poler or wanting to start combining moves, this is the class for you.

PLUS SIZE POLEMIXED ABILITY CLASSES

We'd like to invite you to GFF's first Plus Sized Polers Class, where we offer a safe space enabling you to feel comfortable enough in your plus sized body to exercise and get fit improve your well being in a friendly, motivational and supportive environment.

 If you are plus sized or returning to exercise and want to get fit, improve your muscular strength,  improve your breathing, stamina, flexibility and endurance. Socialise, make friends and have an awesome exercise experience – we have the class for you!

Classes are taught by our very own Nadia Traynor, a plus size poler & aerialist.

Classes have been specially designed for everyone with a fuller figure and/or de-conditioned or returning to exercise.  All BODIES are welcome. Enjoy classes in a safe supported environment!

Please note that whilst we run some specialised classes everyone is welcomed to each class at GFF.

IMPORTANT INformATION

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

We recommend that you wear shorts (better for grip on the pole) or jogging bottoms are fine. T-shirt or vest tops are suitable – anything comfortable. Bare feet are fine to get you started. We ask that you do not wear socks during class as they can cause slips .For Pole Dance classes you should bring your heels and knee pads.

 

Please do not wear any hand cream, body moisturisers, self tan or creams on the day of the class as this makes the pole slippery and dangerous.

 

All hanging jewellery including rings and necklaces should be removed before class. Exposed belly button bars should be removed or covered with a plaster.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

Each pole class will start with a warm up, designed for that specific class and will end in a cool down. In a full class, the poles will be shared by two people (maximum)-However currently the classes are currently halved due to Covid-19 restrictions.

You will be asked to leave all unnecessary belongings in the lockers provided and only bring equipment needed the class room.

Water is a must! We have facilities to fill your own bottles, or you can purchase on reception.

 

ARE THERE ANY AGE RESTRICTIONS?

To take part in our adult pole classes you must be aged 15 or over. Our Adults Pole dance class is for age 18+ (16 with parental permission) and our Filthy Friday classes are strictly for those aged 18+. There are no upper age limits.

 

DO I HAVE TO BOOK?

Booking each class or course is essential. Please book your place here.

 

CANCELLATIONS

If for any reason you cannot make your class please cancel your booking with at least 24 hours prior to the class or you will be charge for the missed class. Places are limited with never more than 2 people per pole.
